Dr. Sangeeth Kumar is an Assistant Professor at Amrita University, specializing in wireless networks, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and has over 15 years of experience working on various research projects in wireless and mobile networks, funded by organizations such as the European Union and Indian research agencies, including the Department of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Electronics and IT, the Ministry of Earth Sciences, and the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
In 2023, he received the Chancellor’s Publication Excellence Award and the Chancellor’s Innovation Award for his research outputs. In addition to his academic role, Dr. Kumar is associated with the School of Sustainable Futures at Amrita University, where he focuses on bridging the digital divide through technology and research initiatives.
Dr. Kumar was awarded the Government of India’s Visvesvaraya Research Fellowship, which he held from January 2016 to December 2020. His thesis was shortlisted for presentation to officials of the Ministry of Electronics and IT in India in 2018. He served as the project leader for India’s First Remote Triggered Wireless Sensor Laboratory, and in 2019, his design was nationally recognized, winning the Best IoT Design and Deployment Award from the Electronics For You Group.
His work on Wireless Sensor Networks for Early Warning of Landslides in the Western Ghats and Himalayas was presented at the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction’s Science and Technology Conference in Geneva in January 2016. He has published in top-tier wireless network conferences such as MobiCom, SenSys, and the Wireless Telecommunications Symposium, and he is also a patent holder in network security.
