Dr. Rami Amin

Dr. Rami Amin is the Global Director of Innovation and Global Insights at Visa, working at the nexus of fintech, digital inclusion, and economic development. He also supports strategic industry partnerships with governments, international organizations, and academia to help reimagine ways of driving innovation. Prior to joining Visa, Rami led several initiatives at The World Bank and in collaboration with the IFC, developing insight to inform clients and Bank-financed operations on how to accelerate establishing the foundation for digital transformation to drive economic growth. At the Bank, he led projects focusing on AI, 5G, cloud and data infrastructure, and designing innovative financing solutions to support smartphone adoption in emerging markets. He also co-led the Bank’s Secretariat for Mainstreaming Digital and Disruptive Technologies and was a member of several multistakeholder working groups including the UN-Interagency working group on AI, the GlobalPolicy.AI working group, and the Global Forum for Law, Justice and Development, amongst others.

Prior to joining The World Bank, Rami coordinated Oxford University’s leading research center for interdisciplinary collaboration, providing early-stage funding for projects considered to be radically innovative with high-impact potential. He has also worked for the ECIR initiative at MIT, the Shorenstein Center at Harvard, a digital asset trading start-up in Hong Kong, and was also a Google Public Policy Fellow, focusing on digital trade law and policy.

Rami was awarded a PhD / DPhil from the University of Oxford, a Master of Public Policy from Harvard University, and was a policy and international affairs fellow at Princeton University.
