Prof. Dr. Josef Noll

Josef Noll is professor at the University of Oslo, where he leads Digital Global Health. He is also Secretary General of the Basic Internet Foundation. From his industrial background as group leader in Telenor R&D, he is looking for mobile developments addressing the societal challenges. He is active in 15 countries in Africa, and has connected more than 250 schools through cost-efficient local access.

Given that digital inclusion is the #1 catalyst for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), for access to information on health, education, agriculture, decent work and societal empowerment, “6G for All” is a societal need. Prof. Noll suggests the model of the road to the Internet, with digital pedestrians and digital cyclists having free access to the Internet (“Internet Lite”)

Besides school- and community connectivity, Prof. Noll is involved in a range of Digital Health projects. Besides his academic background, he has worked in SIEMENS (DE), European Space Agency (NL) and Telenor (NO).
